Is 40 Too Old to Skydive?

No, 40 is not too old to skydive. In fact, many of our sport jumpers are well into their 40s, moreover, there are multiple organizations within skydiving that cater to those who have aged like fine wine!

These organizations include:
Parachutists Over Phorty (POPS)
Skydivers Over Sixty (SOS)
Jumpers Over Seventy (JOS)
Jumpers Over Eighty Society (JOES)
Jumpers Over Ninety (JON)

In April 2023, the SOS completed a World Record Event for the largest formation of SOS members in one skydiving freefall formation! One of our own Sky Knights, Diana Kruchten, started skydiving when she was 50 and she now has thousands of jumps. Another one of our Sky Knights, Jeff Dawson, started skydiving when he was 40 years old. He is now a seasoned SOS who holds the world record for, ehem, the most NAKED skydives. Bet you didn't know you had a world record holder right here in your backyard at Skydive Milwaukee! Every Thursday during our regular season, Skydive Milwaukee hosts Old Man's Skydiving League (OMSL), and skydivers from all over the region including Beloit, Milwaukee, Waukesha, Sturtevant come to feel the freedom of freefall.

Every few years, Skydive Milwaukee/Sky Knights SPC hosts the Old Timers Skydiving Reunion, and jumpers from across the country join us at Sky Knights for a night of nostalgia. After all, we've been around since 1963--we've got a lot of sky family who will forever be known as a Sky Knights.

We've welcomed tandem students as young as 40 and as seasoned as their 90s at Skydive Milwaukee. As long as you are in good physical and mental health, skydiving can be a safe and exhilarating experience at any age. However, it's always important to consult with your doctor before attempting any extreme sport. Don't let your age limit you--remember, the sky isn't even the limit! Book your skydive with us today!
